I did a quick search and I couldnt find anything so I was wondering. Can you take the TTB D44 out of an earlier Ford truck and swap it onto my X. I want full size axles but I cant afford a straight axle swap. Any comments or other suggestions on what I can do would be great. Thx
BTW I have a '94 XLT.

Nope. It's too damn big, it will hit the engine crossmember and the axle pivot points are in the wrong spot.
Also the diff is huge, the coils would be spaced out too far, radius arms spaced out too far, shocks, etc etc etc....

It can be done with the same amount of work and $$ as the solid axle.

What would be the benefits of the D44 TTB anyways?

Now there is a Ranger out there with a D44 TTB under it but I believe the beams were modified, check therangerstation.com

You can use the knuckles from the D44 for larger brakes, better spindles/wheel bearings, etc but it would change your bolt pattern for the wheels..

Why do you want the D44TTB? lets start there......the only reason I can think of is more width and 35+ tires
