2005 Ford Explorer 4 Door
Our daughters 2005 Ford Explorer 4.0 L 4 door starts but has no power. It will start, but when in drive will not go over 1 or 2 mph. Looking for suggestions. Just replaced with new battery.

are you saying there is no response from the gas pedal? Your stepping on the pedal but the engine isn't increasing in rpms or speed or no response at all? If you push the gas pedal all the way to the floor there's no response from the engine rpms? Is it stalling, hesitating, when attempting to accelerate ?

That is correct, when I step on the pedal, no increase in rpm's. It starts with no problem, just to response when you step on the gas pedal. It does have a engine failsafe indicated.

Evidently, it is in "limp-mode", a computer strategy aimed at preventing further damage to it's mechanism after some for of failure has occurred. The process to be followed now is to read and record DTC (Digital Trouble Code) evidence which can reveal the root cause of the difficulty. imp
