I have a 2002 Explorer. The dome light will not shut off automatically. When the key is in or running it shuts off. I have to turn it off by the dimmer switch. When the key is out and the dome is on the power door lock on the door won't work and the number pad on the door won't work.. The key fob works fine. When I turn the dimmer switch off everything works fine. Any ideas?

I had this and other electrical problems with my 02 XLT. A lot of issues can be traced to brkoken wires in the boot between the door and the body. Check out this thread for checking broken wires in the boot, thanks to synyster for a great write up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=270081. Be sure to read carefully as he explains how to get at the wires, inspect them, and repair them. Good luck.
