1998 explorer
hi. im having trouble with clunking on my 98 explorer. mostly does it while going up hill. it sounds like its toward the rear, im hoping its a u-joint. i had this noise about a year ago, but it was from the transfer case which new tires fixed because the old tires were worn and not the same diameter so the 4wd was kicking in and out. tires are worn again, but the same noise seems to be further towards the rear. any input would really help me out, thanks

If the u joint is bad enough to make clunking noises, then it could fail at anytime. Better check it before it does. Can to a crapload of damage.
