Electronic Shift

I have a 94 ford ranger with push button 4wd. When I push the 4wd button absolutely nothing happens. The light beside the button doest come on. I have pulled the switch and it has current going into the switch and if I take a test like I can get the 4wd lights on the dash come on but still no luck with the switch. Any suggestions.

4wd shifting motor

I haven't checked it yet, I assumed that it was something maybe in the computer or in the button itself. That is just because there is a red light on in the computer behind the drivers seat and the buttons dont even blink when you push them. Would the motor being in the wrong position cause that?
