Emission and fuel cap lights are on.

My 2006 XLT has emission control light on and gas cap light on. Can I disconnect the battery to clear the codes. I bought a new cap from Ford and have been through three cold starts

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the stock 2006-2010 section. You could clear the codes by disconnecting the battery if you don't have a scanner to clear the codes. The PCM will have to go through a new learning curve as you drive if you disconnect the battery. The radio presets, and clock will have to be reset as well.

Radio presets may actually stay put. I forget what its called but someone explained it to me after i was shocked to see my presets (but not clock) remain after replacing battery.
