Greetings:

I will be eventually replacing my exhaust header pipes to manifold gaskets. Advance Auto Parts has a set of ajoining 4 for $12.99 each (one set per side). My leak appears to becoming from the second to last header pipe to manifold gasket, on the passenger's side. Overall the engine runs extremely smooth, however, upon acceleration, the leak becomes much more pronouced. I am thinking that I will be in need of new studs. I am going to a exhaust specialist next week, in that it maybe fixed. Otherwise the remainder of the system is in excellent shape. Even the EGR Valve is functional, as weel as the recently installed oxygen sensors. How much can one expect to pay with customer supplied parts. everything is accessible through the wheel well, upon removing the front tire. Thanks in advance!:)

That's going to depend on how easily they can get your manifold bolts off. If they come off fairly easily and they don't break a bolt(s), I would say 1-2 hours of labor should be about right (Less than $200). I would spray your manifold bolts with PB Blaster the night before you take it in to give them the best chance of getting the bolts out easily. It took me about an hour to do the manifold gasket on my 66 Galaxie, but that was a much easier job than what you are looking at. Good luck!

Thanks! I have had numerous big 425/472/500-V8 7.0/7.7/8.2 litres block caddies 73-78 fleetwoods/sedan devilles', in my youth:D, that seemed to be easier than these smaller 302 V8's. Back in the day, they would just take a cutting torch (melt it right out of the manifold), if the stud would break and or refused to move, even after heating them up. Thanks again:salute:!
