On pavement or off?

On pavement or off?
It will do it any time, going straight on pavement or turning. not related to rotation as such. may do it 2 times in 10 ft or go 100 ft. Could a bad controller or sensor cause it to disengage and re-engauge? or more likely a problem in the transfer case? I was thinking about removing the actuator and test driving. should it stay in 4wd Hi with it removed? Thanks for any suggestions. LA

4wd should never be used on dry pavement with this truck. What you’re probably getting is binding and release popping in the drivetrain.

I thought of one more possibility, bad auto hubs. Way back when I had auto hubs, the sign I got that they were going bad was they would seize and release when under load in 4wd, resulting in a loud and violent snap that sounded and felt like an axleshaft snapping.
Do you have auto hubs or manual?
