..I'm out covering the 4 Wheel Parts Glen Helen Grand Prix Ultra4 race this weekend and will post up when I can but thought I would share this link for live coverage this weekend..

..This is a motorcycle track so this shall get exciting..

..Some calm before the storm...

..about 25% of the teams have showed up so the rest will be arriving thru the night...No one can get onto the track until the morning so everyone is trying to maintain around camp..

..This truck is on the cover of this months 4WP magazine KOH edition..

..Since Brian and his posse aren't here I took a gazillion pictures..

..I haven't really had much luck on catching the ultimate shot but we just finished qualifying at 5, the Baja Cup Challenge is taking the track and we have a meeting at 6 which will also give us the starting order..

..I'm currently sharing a shade tree with RuffStuff specialties and crew across from ADS shocks..


..They drivers are beating on their rigs out here..

..and they are hauling them off the track with a loader..

..The starting line and this ain't nothing...

..They are also using the short course track they use for Lucas racing and another section out back..This is a pretty big event to cover...They alsohad like 75 pre register and right now I believe 70 qualified...

..Fast qualifying time is like 6:30 and that is flat covering some terrain..This is not a pre-runner race nor is it a rock crawler race..Imagine these vehicles on a Grand Prix Motocross track and a Lucas Racing track and, running up and down the hills with hairpin turns and a set of chicains between the courses...

...Did I mention everyone and the stock class qualified at the same time by going balls to the wall for 2 hours and your quickest lap was your qualifying time?..It was truly awesome insanity..:biggthump

Good stuff, thanks Ted. Wish I was there, my trip this weekend got cancelled.

That 221 green XJ looks cool. I remember seeing it at a few KOHs in the past with the big tires and low lift but it was more trail rig then and now is more racer. Looks like he got the bug.

#76 Scherer has an interesting tire grooving pattern going on. How many guys are running short course tires out there?

4486 is usually fast, Im curious to see how he does.

775...taking bets on when and/or how many times he rolls over? At the Albuquerque race it was within a half mile of the start it rolled over, it is tall.

4461...he is using the Bomber chassis and not his Penhall? Interesting...

The car on the loader...they circled the problem somewhere on it (not a Ford joke either) :bsnicker:

I would expect Adler in the 4WP IFS car (former TG car) to do well. He has a great crew chief who Im sure prepped the car well and he has short course experience.

..There were like 5 rollovers yesterday and one rolled over twice...

...This is a 3 mile course and one of the guys in qualifying got off course...Dave Cole said it was about 14 miles off course but I would say it was a little less..

..As for tires and the track...If you have ever dirt course'd or seen the "World of Outlaws", that's what the racing is on the flats of this course...Track is dry as well as everything in SoCal right now and they are constantly watering the track down so the tires can get gummed up..

..There have been no tire companies out so it looks like most have brought MT's..

..Here's a link to the qualifying times but listed as number 1, Goegebuer,B, is incorrect as that was a duck off track lap...#2 and on down is correct and how they broke the 2 heats down for today..

..I believe there will be 75 racing today and this same link will update the scoring..

..I took over 1500 pics yesterday and probably only have 20 good ones..Unlike the Hammers, I can't race around in my truck on this course..It's all hoofing it..

..Sadly, Greg Adler and the other 4WP drivers/codawgs will not be racing today..They will have stand-ins for the race as allowed per the rules. They are at a funeral of a family type, company member who just passed..

..During the race he lost all forward gears so we backed him next to my X..There was a ton of pics taken of his rig parked next to mine as it was truly a favorite..:biggthump..Oh yea for comparison..He's sitting on 39x13.50's..

..I wish I had a dollar for every flat tire I take a picture of.....I actually have a picture of one of the cars running with a flat tire and the next lap I noticed that he now had two flat front tires....I'll see if I can find the picture..

...and this was a late picture as he almost rolled and it was coming down when this was taken..I know another photographer caught the shot..

..You should have showed him your article so he would build the sickest Explorer ever..

...I will be sifting thru pictures for at least a week and I will post some highlight pics up here as I get to them..

..BTW, I forgot to mention to all you gamers out there...There will be a KOH video game released around the 28th of either June or July..This vehicle here was just announced this weekend to be one of the main vehicles you can choose in the game..

..and some sad news from this weekend...Will Higgabotham, the Lucas Oil and KOH helicopter pilot (the red one) of the last couple of years crashed while flying this weekend and did not survive..
