Headlights

Hey, Ive got a 98 XLT and my headlights stay on for about 2-3 mins after i shut the car off and leave it. I have the automatic light slider in the "off position", is there a problem, or do explorers just do that.

I also cannot manually shut off my headlights, and they come on by themselves at night

I have the same feature on my 02 X but have the slider near the off position they turn off a few seconds after the ignition. Have you tried playing with the slider position?

theres gotta be something wrong with maybe the switch if the slider is all the way to the left then the lights should never go on automatically unless your knob is switched on on the dash, if the slider is in the middle it stays on for about 30-60 secs...you said it stays on for only two minutes cause if it stays on for a while and then goes off then it may be the automatic shut off to protect the batt.
