The FIRST day after I bought a '96 XLT in very good condition- I start it up and the instrument panel needles are all shooting to the extreme positions. The 4 corner gauges- (not the speedometer or tachometer which work fine.) I tried restarting- nothing. THen I drove about 100 yards and all the gauges suddenly went back to normal position. EXCEPT fuel gauge. I had just filled the tank but it was registering below empty. At a redlight i shut off truck and restarted and fuel gauge was fine. I got to my destination and parked for 20 minutes. Started it up again and all 4 corner gauges were wacked again. After a while 3 of them went back to normal- except fuel- then strangely the fuel slowly moving up a little above empty (had full tank!) . Later that night none are working now. Is there a way to fix this? DO I need whole new instrument panel? Thanks for your advice.

It could be you have a bad ground connection to the panel.
