For the last year and a half or so, i've been hearing strange clunking noises coming from the frontend suspension. When I accelerate from stop, decelerate, or steer left and right, i would hear this clunk-clunk-clunk noise. Sounds like something is stretching too far.
I went to ford today and I showed him the problem.. He said it may be a ball joint. But I find it hard to believe since its only a 1997, and it only has 65000 km's on it. Has anyone ever had this problem? Really need some advice before I go into replacing anything.

Thanks!

I'd agree with the Ford Tech. I have seen the stock ball joints on Explorers (and just about every other vehicle made) fail with as little as 21,000 miles.

our company truck is a 2002 F-350 4 door short box 4x4 and we have had 4 new ball joints put in and it has 45xxxx on it...

thanks a lot to u both..... i guess i'll start fiinding out how much this wiill cost.... any ideas????
