Hi just thought that i would let you all know that i have just changed my Inlet Manifold Gaskets (98 4.0 sohc upper and lower) and boy did they need doing.
the upper one wasnt so bad but the lower ones had been baked solid and must have been letting in loads of air.It was a fairly easy job which took about 2.5 hours not rushing (although i am experienced mechanically) and I had some help from my haynes manual. Although it tells you to remove the rocker covers and I didnt. Im just waiting for a cold morning to check the cold startup running (it was very lumpy) and hopefully it will be fine as it runs great now.
by the way i also cleaned out the IAC valve as well.
