I'm got my 1st. explorer,a '92 4x4 2 weeks ago & want to know how to selectively eliminate the rear hatch switch that turns on the interior courtesy lights. I live near the beach on Padre Island in S. Texas & want to leave the hatch open for extended times while @ the beach. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the site.
The dome light switch is wired to the driver's side latch mechanism (hidden inside the rear hatch). For a temporary solution you can just open the hatch and then manually close the latch with your hand. Notice that as you close the latch the light goes out... when your ready to go just turn the hatch handle to unlock/open the latch before closing.
