Intermittent A/C compressor

I was just wondering if it is normal for the A/C compressor to turn off intermittently while the A/C is on. At first I thought I had the defroster on, but I switched the slider to max-a/c and the dial to high, and the compressor still shuts off intermittently. The air is ice cold. Is this normal operation?

yeah. this is normal.

It CAN be normal or it can be abnormal. Do you have a factorary repair CD? It has a chart listing ambient temperature Vs. time on and time off (total cycle time). If it's warmer than about 90 degrees F it should run all the time.
