kick down works 50/50 % at times

hi all, sometimes when i boot my gas peddle to floor it would sometimes kick down a gear, this is around speeds of 25/35mph and it would stay in 2nd till it does its normal thing of shifting through gears 3-4-5, iv read somewhere you can set it at 3 quaters of the way down on the gas peddle but i cant find that now?

It sounds like a 2-3 flare issue. Check the sticky threads on the top of the transmission section for more information.

your bang on, i do have a flare in 3rd, even worse when in 4x4 high, this is effecting it then?

It sound like it could be the problem. Start with a new valve body gasket set or bonded gaskets, new EPC solenoid, Sonnax high ratio boost valve with O rings, and Sonnax end plugs with O rings. Use an In/Lb 1/4" drive torque wrench on the valve body bolts.
