Lifting a 2006-2008 X

Hi all,

I am curious to know if anyone has lifted an 06-08' explorer. Any pictures? I am having a lot of difficulty finding any pictures of a lifted newer body explorer.

Also, how high is the normal lift for this body? I am only thinking of taking it off road once in a while so most of the lift is for looks.

Thanks for any input and pictures I can get.

look at roadbullys spacers in the 2002 - 2005 forums..im pretty positive they should work for the new gen x's as the suspension setup didnt really change.

I am looking to lift my 2008 XLT and have already made enquiries with Road Bully, he tells me his lift will fit the 2008 XLT. Having had mineout in the dunes, the lift is an essential first mod as i have been crested more than once due to lack of break over angle with the standard ride height.

Celtic Nomad - I see youre based in AUH atm. Im in DXB I got a 08 XLT and am experiencing the same issues with cresting. Where are you planning on getting your lift done?

check out fatbobsgarage.com and search by make and model. They sell a truxxx lift kit for late model explorers. its basically a black steel cap that sits on top of the struts. 2.5" front 1.25" back.

Yes i am in Khalifa City, like Road Bully i used to build my own gear in the UK for Land Rovers, so I have already had the shocks off mine and am now getting a strut top extension made up and should hopefully be fitted by next week.

Who do you go out with ME4x4? I used to be with that crowd when i lived in Sharjah, but then moved to AUH and joined AD4x4, but they got too political. Im not with any group. I live in Dubai and Im a newbie to the whole offroad scene. Only recently started dune bashing and am planning some mods to my Ex to make it more off-roadable

So how long are your strut extensions? are u worried about possibly voiding the warranty? I already got a set of strut caps 2.5inch front and 1.25 back. havent installed yet.

When you get back form KSA give me a call i am in country until 03.01.09 then going home for 12 days, join the forum on WOT and i will approve you as i am the webmaster, our numbers are expanding daily, lots of newbies so dont worry about that its a case of getting like minded expats together for offroading.

Had my strut top extensions back today, but dont think i will get chance to fit them until in the new year as i have family out over christmas and the wife will have a sense of humour failure if i spend a day under the explorer rather than socialising! Going for 3" up front and 2.5" to the rear to bring it level ish....

Watch our web over the next few days for photos of tomorrows event, see if i can do a whole day without being crested! Oh yes, take your number plate of its standard UAE mount and put it half way up the grill as well as its a bugger to get a new one in the UAE and mine came off the other weekend when acting as a sand plough!

I am also working on rear bumper strengthening to stop it being ripped of when it scoops sand coming down the back side of dunes, it will comprise of angle iron and aluminium bolted to the chassis to stopthe sand getting in there.

Hi, I live in dubai and have the 06' Explorer. Want to do the lift kit.. was looking at a 2.5" front and 2" rear. got anything better than that. Found a website called Fat Bobs garage who can help in on this lift. But wondering if i can source them from somewhere around here.. lemme know
