lite smoke after engine rebuild

just replaced the heads with used junk yard parts and all new gaskets every were. heads are good just let it idel for about 15 min but there is smoke not alot just woundering if thats just normal burnoff or if i should be alarmed. i dont see any leaks.

One way to tell for sure, put a few miles on it and see what happens.
 












Some smoke is normal. Burning off start up lube in some areas. Keep a close eye on your oil. Coolant level will need to be topped up anyway, so don't be alarmed about initial coolant level drop.

As everyone above. Run it. Congratulations on the head replacement.
 






What color is the smoke? Could be some left over residue from the head swap. Blue smoke just means its running rich.
 






Blue smoke is OIL, black smoke is GAS, white smoke (steam) is COOLANT.

This. Blue smoke means you are burning oil, black is running to rich. All of these are NORMAL after an engine rebuild. I just rebuilt a 351windsor and it was smoking a bit, lots of smoke from the engine thanks to the extra oil all over and things settling in. Just run it
