Ok, just got my explorer back from Goodyear to get a new battery and I am noticing a new problem. I think it has to do with my tansmission, but I am not sure. I have an automatic transmission 4-wheel drive. My problem is that every time I accelerate or slow down my car has a bad jolting sound coming from below. This only happens when my transmission changes gears and it doesnt sound very good. When I got the car about 2 months ago it didnt have the problem and I just noticed it about 3 weeks ago. Do I need a new transmission? I am getting my front pinion seal and left axle seal replaced this tuesday. Will this fix my problem? What is that jolting, clanking noise whenever my gears are changing? Thanks. Any help is much appreciated.

may just be a Ujoint going bad. it only happens when your shifting? you dont have any other problems? RPM's ok? check tranny fluid level just to be sure.

Yea it only happens when I am shifting. My RPM's are OK and no engine or OD light.

sounds like a ujoint problem.

when they put the new batt in they reset the computer and until it learns the new setings it may act a little funny. if it does not go away check teh u joints
