2019 Sport
Greetings,
My wife is on her 4th Explorer (Gen-1, Gen-2, Gen-4 & now Gen-5).
She opted to not look into 2020 and newer models, because she does not like the rotary "dial" transmission selector.
(Nothing wrong with it, but its just not to her personal liking).
1.) We have a Silver 2008 XLT currently in very good shape and still on the road
2.) She recently picked-up a like-new 2019 Magnetic Gray Sport with 41K on it. It even still smells new inside.
See Info Below: I do like the 2018-2019 quad-exhaust-tips, over my 2016 model style exhaust tips). If I decide to, there is a custom
exhaust shop, the next town over, that can change mine to the quad-tip configuration.
3.) I liked her 2019 Sport so much that I picked-up a 2016 Magnetic Gray Sport (in exceptionally clean condition).
I just had all the fluids changed-out + I did the air filter and cabin filter changes.
I will be replacing the struts/shocks soon (I can feel a very slight difference when driving hers vs. mine).
She says I'm weird for getting the same vehicle. I told her it's her fault, because she has good taste.
I really like the dark gray color (with the accompanying black-out trim) over the other colors for the 5th gen line.
FWIW, for my budget, I had looked at 2020 ST's in Magnetic Gray but its a "first generation" model with many recall issues.
I also was seeing a lot of reports on the "new" 10-speed transmissions already developing problems even at low-miles.
I also do like the 5th gen look over the 6th gen look (but that's just my personal taste).
