New tranny problem again!

Well, installed second 4r55E transmission on my Ex two weeks ago. Everything smooth and no more clunking on 2-3 gear but now the only problem is incline driving. Everytime there is a slight incline or traveling 65mph on a steep hill and let go of the gas it will bog now to 50mph and have to really stomp on the gas to go back to 55mph if possible and the truck really struggling but going downhill or level surface it's fine. Now also notice on a slight incline on the street I must really give it gas to keep up with traffic and slight vibrations are now felt through the steering wheel. Checked all gears, washers, bands, VB bolts and everything to specs. Torque converter? What is it now?

Where are you getting these transmissions from? Are they fresh rebuilds or junkyard trannies?

It sounds like excessive slippage. Take it back to the shop where you got the transmission from before the warranty expires.

Took these trannies off 500.00 used Explorers with bad engines and open them up and followed "A4LD transmission rebuild diary" replaced bands and all gears are intact nothing missing. New 5R55E VB with with solenoids. Only thing did not replace was torque converter. What to look for in slippage? Got two more all rebuilded and cleaned up but no torque converters yet.

Never reuse an old torque converter. Junk from the previous transmission will get caught inside, and might clog a good transmission when it's installed. Flush the cooler, and the lines with cooler cleaner before you install a transmission.

You should look in the yellow pages for a local rebuilder or a transmission parts store. The prices online will be higher since you will have to pay to ship your core to them, then another shipping charge to get a remanufactured torque converter.
