OBD II scanner (what is compatible )

They work on Android too ("torque" and "dash commander" for example).
I was just replying to previous statement about Windows 7.
Anyway, I don't know how many times I need to say it:
Always the first step is to pair the bluetooth device with your phone (or laptop):

https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38321/~/droid---bluetooth

Nothing will work without that pairing.

if you look in this screenshot, you will see it is already paired with the device

Didn't pay attention. Then is broken, send it back. On ebay the automated system will open a case for you and, if seller is in China, usually will let you keep the broken device so they don't waste more money on shipping.

no worries, unfortunately i ordered from A domestic shipper on ebay from the US, so i am sending it back, i will take everything into consideration when i get a new one

BTW, I hope you know that the car key should be on "ON" (not accessories) or the engine running before you can make the readings. The car PCM needs to be "on".
