OBDII Problems

Hello i am new here and I am trying to read the codes on a 2000 v6 ranger. When i plug up the code reader, it doesn turn on.

Just to make sure the reader wasnt messed up, i plugged it up on my mustang and it worked just fine. So what could be wrong with the OBDII plug on the ranger?

check the fuses most common one is cig. fuse it should power the adl

For the Data Link Connector and the lighter in a 2000 Ranger, it's fuse #17 in the dash fuse panel.
