Odd Fuel Level Sending Unit Problem

Had 1/8 a tank and topped the tank off at like $46 at $2.36/gal got in and started it and the gauge did not move.

Over the drive home it slowly made it up to 1/2 a tank.

Is my sending unit bad or is the ballcock just sticking/binding?

I was thinking of putting in E85 next fill up to try to dissolve any gummy varnish that might be in there.

Did you leave the ignition in the “on” position while filling the tank?

I have similar issues when I fill the fuel tank with the ignition in the “on” position. It recovers eventually... Not sure what causes that.
