Piston top blew off

I recently had a problem with my 05 SOHC dying on me as I posted here.

I have replaced the engine and took the left side cylinder head off and here is what I found. Looks like cylinder 5 was running a bit lean. I re-installed the injectors in the same cylinders they came out of and I've checked the plug and it looks ok.

Wow, that looks similar to the brother in laws durango motor when we took it apart.

What is all the metal particles from? Piston ring(s)?

Or is it the left side of cyl5 that I see that it looks like an 1/8th inch all the way around?
 






The top half of piston 5 blew off and the ring blew apart. The pieces of the ring is what did all the damage in all three cylinders. The pics of the cylinders are sideways so the left in the pic is actually the top.
