Got hooked on the recent idea of hardwiring in a power inverter, something around 1000 watts for road trips, lighting, ect. Found this one on eaby

I just wasnt sure if cobra made decent inverters, anyone have an opinion?

It wouldnt be used much, I would probably run a wire straight from battery and mount outlets for it in the cargo area and next to glovebox with a switch up front somewhere and the unit under the pass. seat.

I've always been pleased with everything I've had from Cobra, but no experience with their inverters. I got an 800W from here http://www.invertersrus.com/ and its been great.

It should work great, 1500 watts its quite a bit of power.
Make sure u wire it well.

Any inverter should be good if mounted correctly. Cobras are fairly reliable. They were my second choice when I got Xantrex/Powerdyne 1000 (non-commercial version of whats used in some ambulances). If you need just power conversion (12V to 110) and you are just going to run regular appliances, then even a mid-level inverter should be good. If you need really clean power for computer / carputer, etc) then you may want to consider True sine wave inverters. They're a bit pricier but you can avoid the line "noise" generated by cheaper inverters. Make sure it get good ventilation (try and avoid mounting it over carpeted areas - or you may want to mount it on a wooden or plexiglass base.
