Problems With AWD?

Has anyone ever had any problems with the AWD drive system on a Explorer or Mountaineer? I am looking at purchasing a 1998 Mountaineer 5.0 AWD. I would prefer a 4WD, but the AWD is fine too. Any opinions or problems?

i HAVE HAD MY V8 awd FOR ALLMOST 2 YEARS.. AND I LOVE IT..

awd is great accept for no low gear, but if you want the v8, and you want to go offroad, you gotta get awd
