rear window or rear door gate shocks?

okay this is my first SUV, my first ford explorer, i was wondering if the shocks to lift the rear door gate and mirror suppose to be replaced every 3 years or so?


I had my door's "shocks" or whatever replaced under warranty, now i see that the window part is having the same problem.


please let me know.

some call it rear window lift gate support or tail door lift support

Unless it's defective, I would say no. They should last a long time. I don't think I ever had to replace one.
