I have a 95 ranger and wanted to recode the locks. I lost the key a few weeks ago and bought a cylinder kit at autozone for 20 bucks to replace the ignition cylinder. So now my ignition and door locks arent the same key. I've got the cylinder out of the door and sitting here on the desk, i just cant figure out how to crack it open to check out the tumblers. I know a few of you work at a dealer and might have had to code a lock or two ( i used to work at a gm dealer and did it a lot) so any insight would be great. thanks.

I know in my '97 X, I had to pry the black cap off the front of the lock. They you'll have access to the tumblers.

One removed you have to replace the caps though, so you might have to go to a locksmith to get them anyhow

blah, i was afraid of and was expecting that, oh well, maybe i can do it without mangling them
