I am using an '00 Explorer V8/4R70W to restore a 29 year old Volvo. The Explorer drive shaft will not work . I would like to first eliminate available recycling yard shafts before I have a completely new shaft made.

I need the 28 spline, 6" barrel, 1.6" diameter 4R70W spline shaft connected to a 1310 (3.5") u-joint rather than the stock 1330, 4.5" u-joint. The 4.5", or 5.5" with harmonic ring Explorer unit is entirely too big to fit in the Volvo tunnel. Also need a 3" torque tube. The back end will have to be custom.

Is there a Ford drive shaft from the past that might supply the front end and tube?
