Hi: my friend has a 96 Ford Aerostar van. It runs for a while, then stalls. It won't restart until it sits for a while. He thinks it might be a cps? Any thoughts?

I’d suspect fuel pump first.

This once happened to my 1988 van. It would suddenly cut out. It was the fuel pump relay. The computer controls the fuel pump so check that relay too.

Late to chime in but will leave this in case it helps anyone else:

Had this problem with a 1991 Chevy Corsica. Tested several things and eventually realized the engine would cut out after a pretty consistent amount of time and engine temperature.

Turned out to be the PCM. One theory was that the PCM would warm up to a point and then the bad circuitry or component would kick in and kill the engine.
