I've got a 99 explorer 4.0 SOHV with 175K on it. Went out to start it the other day and it stars but then dies. Started again and gave it a little gas and it will keep running, but if I let off it dies. Drove it about 15 miles with no problem but anytime I'm at idle, it idles really low and seems like it wants to shut off. It has plenty of electrical power and the engine fires but just won't stay on.
I've been chasing the P1074 code for awhile. Changed air filter, fuel filter, cleaned the IAC and MAS, checked out the PCV valve and the hoses it involves but haven't had any real problem until now.
