Hi all again.....
After along and problem free time with my Explorer I seem to have a biggie that no-one as yet can help with.
My car has developed a whining noise only when I drive. It starts as a low noise and the pitch increases as the car gets faster. I did try an experiment the other night where I found a flat stretch of road , I increased my speed to 60mph and put the car in neutral. The noise pitch got lower as though the car was slowing. I put the car back into gear and the noise came back.
I did speak to an engineer friend of mine who has said that the rear prop shaft is moving at the drive flange out of the transfer box.
Is this a quick fix or a much bigger job.
I hope that someone can help.
Cheers all......
