More than a few clubs have good working relationships with the local FS staff, and this would help in keeping trails open and available for all to enjoy. Maybe even get some new ones opened. Easier for a local manager to make decisions rather than send it to someone who is removed from the situation, and makes a decision based on whats in the rule book, or what the PC establishment thinks is right.

Thank You president Bush - maybe we will finally get some common sense put into the rule making- so lacking in the last few years.

I think you misunderstand what the purpose of the Bush administration national forest policy. The intent of this policy is to help the logging industry, not the recreational off roader. From my experience loggers don't realy like us using their roads.

The same rules that govern the logging are also applied when it comes to opening or designing roads for all uses- streamlining the process is good for all users- although the benefit may not always be direct. I believe better decisions can be made anytime the decision making can be made more local which is more to the point about the Bush repeal of the Clinton "legacy"

The roads in use by the loggers eventually end up in the system, and recreational hunters, offroaders, hikers, bikers can take advantage of them. So indirectly we have an interest in supporting the forestry industry- although I dont agree with all of their means I do believe they should have access- unfettered no, but there is a median that should be a goal, and adding endless studies and comment periods dont serve anyones best interests- except those who want no one in the woods!
