Tail light and cluster problems.

I got problems... After my dad borrowed my truck to tow a trailer the tail lights and tag light quit working, also the lights for the gauge cluster quit working too. The brake lights and turn signals still work though! I spent all evening checking fuses and flipping through that joke a manual that mercury put in there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

grab yourself a fuse tester (they usualy the 3 prongs and a green led on them, as well as tweezer like provisions for pulling bad fuses, mine cost me about 5 bucks). it wont take you but about 5 minutes to test ALL of the fuses with such a device, they can usualy be bought with a case of fuses as well. check both the under dash and the under hood areas. IF its not a fuse, my next guess would be a bad ground or a disconnected wire.
