Transmission Problems Please help

I have a 97 ford explorer sport all wheel drive. I came to a stop today at and stop sign and when I started to accelerate the truck gave a small jolt. I continued to go but was lagging in power. I noticed that I wasnt starting out in 1st gear but instead in 2nd. I came to a stop and also noticed that I dont have reverse either.
