hello everybody :salute:
i have a 98 xplorer sport :exp: and recently i changed the lower ball joints (thanks to this forum), i enjoyed doing it and want to see if i could do my upper ones bcuz i still have the rented ball joint press, but i read that you can't press these out and have to replace the whole upper control arm that comes with the ball joint attached.
My question is has anyone ever pressed the upper ball joints out and if so how did you do it?
If not has any one don the upper control arm/ ball joint and could you give me instruction on how to go about it.
thanks

The upper ball joints are cast into the upper control arm and are not replaceable. You will need to replace the entire upper control arm. To do so, remove the nut on the upper ball joint. Seporate ball joint from steering knuckle. Remove the bolts that hold the upper control arm to the frame. Pull out old control arm amd toss it. Reverse steps for install.
