what rear end to ask for

I was debating doing a rear disc swap on my 93 sport by getting a used rear differential from a 2nd gen. There is a large salvage yard with a decent sized u-pull it yard attached to it relatively close to my work, and just in case axle tags are missing.. is there any way to denote the diff ratios by models or trim packages.. such as lower geared ratios in v8 explorers or higher geared ones in 2 doors? im not very knowledgable when it comes to rear end ratios so i was looking for a short cut in indentifying them. any help is appreciated.

Well you looking for the 95+ models since those are the ones with the disc brakes.


check here for a list of all the codes/axle gear ratios that were used on the Explorer and then all you have to do is just check the door jamb tag......
