I bought the Auxbeam 50" curved LED bar a while back. The brackets that Auxbeam suggests for the 11-16+ Explorer is the Chevy ones which I ordered with it. Today I finally decided to get everything mounted, but there's no way those are the correct brackets for the Explorer, as they simply do not align at all with the shape of the car no matter how I try. Auxbeam has tons of brackets, however, none specifically for the Explorer, and I figure it's more likely a F-150 might fit. But before I waste money on another bracket, does anyone on here have any idea which ones will work? (Here's all of them) Edit: I think the "suggested" brackets might just be a combo deal that I thought meant that it was the suggested brackets, but they're not...
Last week I ordered a pair of VLED's V3 Triton Switchback LED's. After a few problems I finally got them working properly this afternoon. My problems began with a bad turn signal socket. The replacement arrived this morning. The instructions called for using a 5 amp fuse to activate an internal resistor to prevent hyperflashing. It didn't work. I ended up removing the fuse and tapping 60 ohm, 50 watt resistors into the turn signal harness. After that they worked. Here are some photos and a video of them.
hey guys I have a 1998 explorer Xlt and I was just curious as to what brackets to get to mount a 50" curved light bar above the windshield. I haven't been able to find any for any explorer but have found some for rangers and f150's of the same year. Would either of these work? Or is it one of those things where I have to break out the welder and make my own? Thanks!
I will be replacing the assemblies due to foggy lenses, and am wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to led, or get halogen housing's and brighter halogen bulbs. If I get led, I do not like the all white euro look. I want a stock look with amber turn signals, and led headlights. Any suggestions?
After some exploration, I’ve figured out how to modify the foglamp circuit for a 2001 Explorer so that the foglamps stay on with the high beams. This mod is actually much easier, IMHO, than for the earlier models. First, I located the relay box. It’s mounted to the same plate that holds the bottom of the airbox. I got into it, and here’s what I found: 1. There are sockets for a total of six relays, two large (the size of a conventional Bosch relay) and four smaller relays, in a 1 2 1 2 configuration. The six sockets were arranged like this, with socket 1 being toward the front of the vehicle: 1 2 3 4 5 6 On my Explorer, socket 1 was empty from the factory...
I’ve seen numerous posts on here asking how to do it. I’ve even asked myself. I scoured Instagram hashtags relating to “SportTrac” and messaging anyone with led pods to replace their factory fog lamps. There weren’t many. Imgur: The magic of the Internet One person kind enough to go out of his way to take pictures of his set up. He says there is no light wobble on bumps. I personally would try to reinforce it a little bit more to prevent the plastic from cracking. I plan to try this myself hopefully very soon. I plan to get an h10 female for the pod to be able to plug directly into the factory harness to utilize the factory fog lamp switch.
