Hey guys, After almost 7 years of very faithful service, wife decided it was time to downsize so we traded in our 2013 AWD Limited. I still have the OEM 20” polished wheels with 265/50R20 Hankook I Pike winter tires (got that idea from this forum ). TPMS, center caps, and lugs all included. I ran TSW Rivage w/OE tires in the summer and then switched over to factory wheels and winter tires in the fall. Wheels are located in NW Chicago suburbs. PM to discuss or to arrange pictures. Would be great to see them go to another member. Thanks everyone for the great information, this forum was extremely helpful (shark fin antenna, CAI, various recalls and TSBs, etc). Don
I have a 2010 Limited V8 4x4 with 18” wheels. I want to switch to 17” and some KO2s. I have been searching the Internet for 2 weeks for a 17” rim and the only one I some what like is the 17” 2019 Rubicon wheel. You can find them everywhere for sell with or without tires for cheap. Without tires for $300 and with new KO2 tires for $1000 for 5 wheels/tires. 2 problems they are 5x5 instead of 5x4.5 and they come with KO2s that are close to 33”. So the two questions are have anyone ever ran a 4.5 to 5.0 adapter? I know about the physics behind it and the added stress but are there any other issues? I would run the most narrow possible. Also will a 33” tire fit without a lift with the adapters on? I would doubt it. Any input?
So my old tpms sensors were getting past their life and they were replaced with UVS3040 and programmed by a basically competent tire place. They seem to work ok, but not 100%. I get tire sensor faults, so looking for ideas. In one case, they tend to trip about 20 minutes into a regular trip so to me, means possibly a receiver interference (one trigger for the fault is apparently 1 or more not reporting for 20 minutes.) Also, is the receiver in a 2007 explorer in or beat the passenger footwell or? I have a lot of rf experience and test equipment, so might go on a hunt to see if something is squealing at 315-ish MHZ like an inverter or some dried up caps and maybe add some bypassing. (I do RF for a living). Vehicle also has a high...
Okay, so this year my Exploder has really hit me in the wallet. I bought it a few years ago after a friend of a friend had a 2002 Exploder that he remanufactured the engine, and rebuilt then later replaced the transmission in it. I bought it mostly to be a backup vehicle/toy/project. This year started with minor repairs, cleaned the MAF, replaced the IAC, but the engine hasn’t leaked a drop of oil. Same with the transmission. The transfer case however decided to start to leak. So I took the opportunity to tear it apart and clean it up. I also replaced most of the suspension. New struts (I broke a coil.. oops) new ball joints in the front, tie rods, etc... also did breaks all around. I figured since I had it in the air I’d get...
Need to replace my hankooks, been doing a lot of research, basically to the point of detriment to myself...I’ve simply confused myself now. Looking for a good performance road tire, not off road..more all season. I was looking at the Michelin Premier LTX but I’m afraid the wife will flinch at the price. What else could anyone recommend?
About a year ago I took my 2017 XLT in to my local Ford dealership for an alignment fix, as the car was pulling to the right and the steering wheel had to be held slightly off-centre in order to drive straight down the road. When I picked up the car and saw the invoice, I learned that the dealer wasn't able to do alignments on-site (they didn't have the scanners, etc.), and used the Chrysler-Jeep dealership service across the street. Here's what the Ford invoice says, verbatim: STEERING WONDERS OR PULLS CHECK/REPAIR VEHICLE PULLING TO RIGHT CONCERN steering wheel off center, would require alignment to CORRECT; CHECKED ALL STEERING & SUSPENSION COMPONENTS PERFORMED ALIGNMENT & ADJUSTMENT AS PER CHRYSLER-JEEP TO CORRECT CONCERN ROAD...
I just scored a nice deal on a set of 5 BFG KM3s that someone may be interested in. 4WheelParts has them in a 7.50R16 size at a discount price (~$175, plus $25 off per tire, plus they pay tax) that I was able to get discount tire to price match at 5 for $875 out the door, with the $70 mfg rebate comes out to ~$160/tire installed including tax (so $805 for 5 out the door!). The 7.50R16 is a tall narrow tire. ~31.8” tall and ~8.7” wide on a 6.5” wide rim. Works on 16”x5.5” to 16”x7” rims. E rated. For reference, the more common 235/85R16 size is ~31.6” tall and 9.4” wide. Not sure when the 4WheelParts discount ends, so you may want to jump on it if you’re interested. Cheers!
Hey guys, Quick question for you all with 33" tires. What gears do you run with? I have 3.73 gears stock and will upgrade to 33" soon. Just wanting to hear about performance issues etc. If I do upgrade gears as well, should I go to 4.10 or jump to 4.56? In terms of gas mileage, will the extra jump be noticeable? (I know performance will be better) Cheers, BK
Anyone have any experience with the Patagonia A/Ts from Milestar? Thinking about getting a set of 265/70R17 tread to replace the 245/65R17 Bridgestones that are on my '05 Eddie Bauer. (I'm assuming the 265/70 is still the biggest an Expo can use without a lift.) They've had good reviews on them and seem to be a pretty decent tire for the price ($94.00 each). Not looking to go rockclimbing or anything. Just a good all-around tire for less than $100 a piece. Thanks for the replies!
