Sometimes things don't always go as planned. Post pictures and stories of your best...or worst mishaps here.
I cant believe this happened to me i had a 94 explorer till this morning, i was 4wheelin with broken 4 wheel drive in soft dirt like an idiot and my left wheel dropped in a crevice between two rocks trying to get out i dug a whole for my back right wheel (only one turning) and my friend couldnt pull me out. I was stuck for about 5 hours before decided to just call my parents and they were pist (was suppose to be at the movies) but gave me a ride home and we were gonna come back for the ex tommrow in the light. when i came back in the morning it was torched someone stole my stereo, ipod, speakers, and whatever else they could get there hands on and then burned it down worst thing i had a full tank of gas so there was no hope.:( If you...
Last night i was replacing the driver side upper control arm on my 99 explorer. And i had a heck of a time getting the bolts out then getting them back in was hellicious. The right side went in like a dream then the left side fell inbetween the steering buckle and inside the frame. Took me literally 38 minutes to get the bolt out of that spot. Still have all new shocks, brakes and rotors so i'm sure i'll be back to post more opps lol
well on the way to work i got sideways and tried to recover but was unable to in the iced over road to work and the horrible plow job with no grit or de-icer. but my bumper is totally bent beck in a v-shape and unable to by fixed at all. well anyway i ended up running straight into a loght pole and ruined my bumper. it is unble to pull out( i actually broke a tow rope) trying to bend it back a little, i also sledge hammered on it but no help, it is ruined to say the least. but i can get a new bumper w/all the trim and brackets for $200 from a local junk yard(they will even pull it for me). but i need to know becuase it might be a do-it-yourself project on replacing it, but i need to know if there is anything i need to look out for...
hey, ok i got another woops, not as interesting but o well, and i might have pics this time. ok well i was at egail creek driveing the trail when we came to one of the numoris creek croseings, well my frined in front of me reved up and blasted throw the water, makeing some awsome splaches. not too be outdone in front of the gals i tryed it myself. about half way through the creek i hit a giant bolder poped up out of the water and ended up turned around into a deeper part of the creek with my engin off and water comeing in through my open windows. so much for showing off to the babes. well we pulled out my x, took of my intake manafold clened it out started her up let her putter then set up camp. i didn't show off but i did have it so my...
So a few days ago im whippin down some little road, and boom my right front tire goes. my car pulls hard to the right, so iover steer to the left, and then we go to the left till i over steer back to the right, this little act of death finally came to a screeching halt after about a good 100 yards or so. My tire had blown and came completly off the rim, so i suffered some pretty bad rim damage. 250 buck later i got my new Goodyear gatorback on, and my rim still looks ok. but i was thinking how god damn scary that would have been in an X. any one had some fun experiences to share?
So I was watching tv around 9:30 last Friday night. The volume on the HT is up so I don't hear anything but the dogs let me know something is going on out front. I look out a window and see headlights pointed at a house. Said headlights should not be able to be at the angle they are...... One of the neighbor's friends parked their minivan in the front yard. Against a tree. She backs out of the yard. The front bumper is barely hanging on the right corner. She rips it off and throws it in the back. At this point I don't know if she was trying to leave or just park it but she backs up and pulls forward several times to get it something approximating close to the curb. You can see why she couldn't steer in the pics...
Doing routine maintenance under the hood. This is the dual coolant and washer fluid reservoir used on many Explorers and Rangers. Had just enough washer fluid to fill to the brim with a slight overflow. Proceeded to close the cover and hit it firmly with my palm. No problem right? Next morning i found a puddle under the passenger side. Lifted the hood and found the washer tank half full. Disconnected the wire connector and removed the pump and rubber tank seal/filter without any visible issues. Flushed the tank, reinstalled the pump, and refilled with water. Using a small hand mirror and flashlight saw leaking fluid. Replaced with a Trico aftermarket pump and no leaks. My suspicion is the tight fitting cap trapped air and blew the...
This happened to a friend of mine: Picture this. You buy a Ford ranger. You sink a little money into it to make it your own. You`re lovin` your truck. You are going home from work one day when you smell gas. The smell gets worse so you pull into a parking lot to see whats going on. As soon as you stop, you hear a "pop" and sickening, dark smoke starts pouring from your engine bay. You jump out and see flames licking out from your grille. A quick peek under the truck shows a widening pool of flame. You don`t have a fire extinguisher, so you gather what you can and run away. you call 911 on your cell phone as you frantically look for a water supply. Finding none, you have your camera, so you take pictures: She`s...
This isn't an Explorer, but it is the reason why I'm in the market for one. My 2012 Escape got totaled in an accident on I-78 Westbound in NJ. I-78 is 5 lanes in both directions here. 2 Express Lanes, 3 Local lanes. I was in the Express lanes, going home after arriving on a flight from visiting my parents in FL. Over on the Local side, a car hit a patch of unplowed snow & spun out. A Tractor Trailer following the car slammed on his brakes & jackknifed. The first I knew of the incident on the local side was the tractor-trailer sliding across the median right in front of me. As he was jackknifed, I hit right on the left rear tire of the tractor. Walked away from it, but with a fractured radius bone in my left arm, near the wrist.
