Looking back, do you see anything that might have given heads up that it was going bad? I've considered replacing mine preemptively, given the age.

Thanks - I saw your location and mileage and that's why I asked. I think that says a lot about the quality of paint job and undercoating on these vehicles. Much better than GM vehicles of the same era!

Wierd question- what’s supposed to go in that hole to the left of/beside the cigarette lighter? Mines got a wierd grey plastic thingy pluging it. I have no idea what it is.

As the thread title says, I'm looking for a rocker switch that would fit in and match the blank section to the left of the 4x4 transfer case position switch. I want to use it for a light bar switch. Does such a switch exist? Anyone have a part number if it does?

You know its doubtful that all 5 studs broke at once. Depending on how many were already broke this could have been a source of some of your vibrations.

Did I miss where you described how you finally fixed your engine problems? You must have, since you were driving it?

Yes, I was just wondering; I've never experienced a catastrophic failure of a bearing like that. I've had them go bad but it's always just a humming/grinding noise that got gradually worse. Did you have any warning signs?

Nah, Its not "melting" as from heat - its just sticky as if its outgassing or something. Mine anyway. Not discolored or deformed, just sticky

Then change the power steering pump so you can rule that out and move on.

I recommend you take it to a mechanic that knows what he's doing. Failing that, of the choice between coils and a power steering pump, I would change the coils. Have you read how many issues there are with the coils on these vehicles? And you state that the "coils should be good" - clearly...
