    Words you hate

"Clip" as in "I want a 30 round clip for my rifle" The metallic box that holds the cartridges for a pistol, or a semi-auto (or full-auto) rifle is a MAGAZINE.. not a "Clip" A clip is the short flat piece of metal with grooves that holds five or ten rounds that is normally used to load...

Best change you have done to your house.

I guess the BEST upgrade I did would have to be taking out the old Fuel oil furnace and replacing it with a heat pump WITH central air. It had 1 window unit when I moved in 6 years ago. Second, NONE of the three bedrooms had a ceiling light. Oh there was a light switch in each room alright...

    power steering pumps

Nope, there's a special pulley puller for that, don't use your 3 jaw puller. 1. it won't work, and 2. you'll screw up the pulley, probably break it.

    Which Tires for the WINTER??

One more time for the Revos! My F-150 came stock with the Wranglers...worst tire I ever had on a truck (my opinion of course). Replaced with Revos and all was right with the world.

    radiator drain plug question

Whatever works...knowing there was a broken part on my truck would aggravate the living f**k outta me...I'd have fixed it while it was all apart. Just my damned OCD again I guess.

    Chevy engine swap

While that would be a wet dream come true...I wouldn't wanna get a second mortgage on my house to buy one! Last one I saw was $17,000 and needed a rebuild! Of course it was an original. Don't know what the repops cost...Hell I didn't even know they were making them.

Editoral from a Ford Dealership regarding the Big 3 & the Bailout

It is on par with toyota/honda/nissan, in the neighborhood of $43-$47 But understand, if we take a pay cut, so will they, just so they can say they still make less than us. Mark my words, watch and see. That fella using the hoist to put the seat in? dunno about the other plants, but I work...

Editoral from a Ford Dealership regarding the Big 3 & the Bailout

OK Folks, here's how they come up with that "$73" an hour. I actually make $28 and change. They add what my healthcare costs per year, break it down to an hourly rate, and add that to the $28. Then they add up what pension costs are per year, break that down to an hourly rate, and add...

Editoral from a Ford Dealership regarding the Big 3 & the Bailout

As a Ford Motor Company/UAW worker, I'd like to adderss this statement. As per the last (2007) contract, we now have a $300 per year deductible. OK, so I know that's not a lot. You have a $10 co-pay, Ours is $25. Your ER visit co-pay is $50. Ours is $100. I'll Address the $73 an hour...

    New drum brake noise

No....the self adjuster is designed to take up the "slack" or extra gap produced between the shoe and drum as the pad wears down, so what it does basically, is adjust the brake shoes tighter. You'll have to back it off yourself.

    My Explorer Experience. (part III)

Yeah, I know it will, but I been searching since July of this year, and it's becoming a little frustrating, not to mention all the time wasted running all over creation just to check out another piece of junk. However, I will say that as I go back and read my own experience threads, they are...

    My Explorer Experience. (part III)

You know, I actually thought about that while I was sitting there, except I was going to ask for a 12/12 warranty. Drivetrain only of course.

    My Explorer Experience. (part III)

Yeah, the 5 speed is what almost had me sold. I've been told that 300k on an A4LD is not pretty.....or cheap. For $400 I wouldn't have even asked them to come down on the price, but this particular one must have some gold hidden in it somewhere. It's been almost a week now, Ima wait and...

    My Explorer Experience. (part III)

    Any one else notice....

AFAIK, The Explorer Sport Trac was never made with the first gen front body. They didn't come out until the second gen body style. (maybe even third gen) I am quite sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. They are made at the Louisville Assembly Plant, across town from the plant I work at...

Another Explorer Experience! (my story #2)

While it's true it doesn't snow here that often, we still get snow here. More often than not it's ice. This past year we got 8" of snow one day, in Jan. or Feb. and then in March we got 15" ! I work at Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant, (Home of the SuperDuty) and they DO NOT believe in "snow...

Another Explorer Experience! (my story #2)

OK, So after the fiasco of my last look at a used explorer, I have been continuing in my search, driving hundreds of miles, and looking at tens of vehicles. Rust buckets, mosquito killers, parts donors, and the like. I run across an ad on Cars.com (or was it autotrader.com?) for a 1994...

    Would you buy it?

Heck yeah! $200 is chump change! I'd be all over that thing, even if I had to pay a shop to do the tranny!
