Ok I purchased the vehical told that it had a blown head gasket, When I got to taking the head out, I found out that that head was cracked and then they were both cracked one was alot worse then the other. I got it back togather last week and its burning about a quart of oil every 100 miles. Its not leaking any, its not buring blue at all, and there isn't any in the radiator.... But after I start the car up and let it sit at idle for about a minute or so some grayes whites smoke comes out and if you rev it up black soot comes out and covers the cement below the tailpipe like carbon but you run it for a while and the smoke goes away and nothing comes out of the tailpipe but when it does it comes out alot and maybe a little moistue on your hand if you old it and the exhaust is really hot if you hold it there and rev it it will burn your hand seems like its kinda hotter then normal. It runs perfect tho, Thanks

Sounds like the valve seals are shot to me, allowing the oil to drain down in the combustion chamber after you shut it off. Then when you start it it burns it.

I've replaced both the heads on the engine, There both brand new heads and same witht the seals. Then wouldn't that make it burn blue when it gets started.

Yeah, I dont know then. If it was the rings I would think it would do it all the time.

I'm totally stumped, I can't find out where the oil is going and If it was buring it then it would be pouring out blue smoke to burn a quart every 100 miles. I'm gonna pull the plugs out and check how the spark plugs are buring. Thanks

Is your oil smelling like gas? cause im having a problem where my gas and oil is mixing when i pulled the oil dipstick it was thin and watery and smelled like gas a bit and my gas mileage is 7-8mpg city i dont know how this is possible i had a 84 4bbl caprice that got 13 mpg city with 365k on it my truck doesnt even have half that someone know what this is?

I don't have any gas in my oil its nice and clean oil thats in there, Your problem sounds like a bad fuel pressure regulator or maybe a stuck open injector, On startup does it have any white smoke coming out of the tailpipe? With the injector stuck open it pours gas in all the time which would cause bad gas mileage and then while its parked it fills the computstion chamber up with fuel then leaks down to the oil and thats what causes gases oil. Hope that helps, Still looking for help with the loosing oil Thanks

Interesting problem! Maybe a crack in the block leaking through one of the cylinder walls when cold, but the crack seals up under expansion when hot? Just trying to throw out ideas... I guess that would make one of your plugs oily.

Check and retorque the lower intake maifold, mine was using about 1 qt a week torqued the lower intake and , it never has used oil sence then. thought it may be that sence you put new head on.

I'm gonna check the plugs again and see if there is any oil showing and I'm gonna try that retorque the lower intake maifolds, I have nothing else to loose and I've but 320 miles on it so far and added three quarts of oil already and no real sign of loosing it. Thanks for the ideas
