Ok i'm stuck. I had a viper 791xv remote start system installed on my 2005 ex, works great. Only problem is the factory keyless entry remote included a button for popping the liftgate glass, which consequently the 791xv remote doesn't pop the liftgate glass without a relay......supposedly.

Ok, this isn't brain surgery, yet i can't seem to get this to work. There's got to be someone in this forum who has this alarm and wanted to remote open there liftgate glass.... and done it...... How do you do it?

I've tried wiring up a relay, cuz that's what everyone keeps telling me, but it doesn't work. Specifically here's what I've tried. I found the purple/yellow wire coming out of the box on the rr interior, just behind the trim where the 2nd row seatbelt is. Anyway, connected the purple/yellow wire coming out of that box to the 87 terminal on the relay and the rest like this:

86 12V+

30 12V+

85 (-)200mA trigger from alarm (red/white wire in H1 harness)

87 purple/yellow liftgate glass release wire

when i push the aux button on the 791xv remote (to activate the channel 2 validity output) for the 1.5 seconds, nothing happens. What am i doing wrong here? Is there a chant or dance i have to perform to get this to work?

not sure what you mean. Should i be running a ground to the relay somehow?

im not sure if urs would need it, but ive wired 3 sets of aftermarket lights and all include a relay... i had to ground each relay to make it work so that may be ur problem.. without the relay grounded, the power flow doesnt work like it should

Yes, you have to ground the relay, just like anything else.

And the way you have it wired now is incorrect. It should go like this:

30 - 12v
85 - Ground
86 - Lead FROM your alarm that tells door to pop
87 - Lead TO your door pop mechanism

Okay. I'm still struggling with this. I've tried grounding it as suggested, but nothing. I've noticed that the hatch release trigger from the alarm only puts out about .6 V. Is this normal? Don't i need 12V to make the relay work? Hasn't anyone tried to do this with a 791?
