A throttlebody spacer will only increase plenum volume a small amount and not do much for an increase in torque or power. Actually, trying to induce a vortex in the air stream is a dumb idea. Aerodynamicist do everything they can to reduce and/or inhibit the natural occurring phenomenon. It creates drag on any moving object and reduces the ability of directional change to the air flow. Basically it does everything we don't want in an intake system... Now,it may cost a bit more, but in my opinion you would be better off buying a Zabtek bored and massaged throttlebody. Another mod that can be done for free is to go in and open up ( decrease ) the IMRC plates area. I have done it a couple different ways. I picked up about 1 mpg on the highway buy doing it. Trim about 1/8" to 3/16" out off the bottom of the plates. That will give an increase in airflow along the bottom of the port. Intake port flow always starts at the bottom half of the ports upon initial opening of the valves. The factory IMRC plates only allow flow through about 35% of the port when closed and it is in the upper area and to one side. The engine really seams to like having the flow spread across the floor of the runner.
