- 2005 Ford Escape
I have a 2005 Ford Escape, I recently had to change the computer. A whole bank of cylinders was not firing and after I changed the computer the engine light came on. The code said that there was restricted air flow through the catalytic converter on the side of the engine that had not been firing. The emissions sticker said it was manufactured to be compliant with California. Do I need to replace the bad cat with another California compliant, or can I get a cat that is fine for my state and still shut the engine light off? I have the knowledge and aptitude to do the work, but when it comes to computers and engine lights, that is a whole different story. I can use some expert advice on this one, thanks all.
