Bench replacing buckets...possible?

I'm working on making my 93 explorer into a retro/hot rod styled roller, but I wanna change the power and leather eddie bauer buckets to a vinyl flat topped bench seat outta a ranger. easy swap or are the mounting points different?

I know some explorers came with a bench in the front it may have been 50/50 split but I can't remember.

Ranger seat will be real close to bolting in, you may have to modify the seat tracks and seat belt mount just a bit or make some simple brackets

Some first gens came with a bench seat in front, seating for 6 passengers. I couldnt find a picture of one, but they do exist.

My X came with the bench in the front. I thought all XL model Explorers came with a bench... lol

all i know is I want a bench, time to go bone yard hopping this weekend. if anyone wants the eddie bauer power/leather buckets and is good at reupholstery...let me know.

I'll update in about two to three weeks, I found my seat to replace the buckets, I just need to get back home to work on installing it. ah the life of a truck driver, it robs time from playing with the X

Old thread.. I've got a 60/40 bench in my -91 XLT.. So they are out there!

there are 2 1st gens in my local(ish) yard, the blue 91 has a broken bench seat, 60/40 but the center backrest folds down for an armrest, that back piece is missing unfortunately. the 93 there also has a weird set fo buckets, they dont contour nearly as much as the buckets in my 91, they are like a high-back 40 bench seat but with teh regular center console.
i almost bought the 91's bench seat but it was missing the backrest liek i said, what im going to guess would be nearly impossible to find.

looks like the 60-40 split 4dr bench like what i found in the jy, the center bottom part of the seat is sewn to the driver's portion.
