What's the trick for getting the brake line un-seized from the fitting? I'm trying to change the brake hoses, and both front fittings are seized to the brake lines. The male fitting is free from the female fitting on the hose, but the brake line has rusted, swelled, and seized in the male fitting. I'm afraid to work it too hard as it'll kink and/or twist the brake line right off, and there's no room to work in there to put a replacement end on with a new flair.

So, what's the secret?? It's been soaking in penetrating oil for three days... and still won't turn.

Is heat a bad idea?

Update: Found a way around the problem. I removed the clip that holds the hose into the bracket, then removed the bolt that holds the bracket to the frame rail, and slid the bracket up the steel line so I had some room to flex it. THen, I pulled the lines out far enough that I could spin the hose off the tube fitting, spun the new one back on, reinstalled the bolt for the bracket, clipped the line back in, and tightened-down the fitting. It had to twist about another 20 degrees from where it was before, and the steel tube is slightly tweaked, but not kinked and holding fluid so far.

Time will tell... It's just got to last another set of pads or two. So long as the hose doesn't fail, it should be fine for a while. :)

Hate when that happens... I've had to replace the line and nut when it happened to me. Glad you've got it going now.

That's a good fix, I'm glad you made it work.
