Thanks

Thanks not only does it look good, but getting rid of the air dam it gained me some approach angle

Pete,
Ive got the Olympus D-510 camera. Got it this summer and have taken a bunch of pics, but am just now figuring out how to send, share, and post them.:D

 Nice, really nice  Do you have any idea of how much heavier it is compared to the stock bumper? Aesthetic, tough and functional, I really like it. Ready for Kephart now? ;)

Looking at the center of your new bumper, it looks as if it could accomodate a winch. Any plans in that direction? :D

Winch

The bumper is formed steel and it weighs a bit more than the assembly that I took off- 60lbs was the ship weght. I did scrape my airdam and bumper(along with my rocker panel scar) on Kephart- shouldnt be a problem with this bumper/ and some better driving

Winch - yes, when? Im planning on a winch, but like most things I need to get some funds so it probably wont be until summer/fall. 8000 or 9000 warn, Ive got a line on a used one that may be up for sale so maybe sooner if it works out. I have a few other upgrades Im going to do until then- lower axle gears (in the garage ready to go in after the holidays) rock rails, a rear bumper tire carrier, some rear suspension work, and a step up in tire size to some 32-33s. Etc etc. ;)

It was not the Air dam that bugged me but the lights that hung below the Bumber on the Navajo. I use to carry a Spare set incase I smashed one. Looking Good it is Like my Blue Twin. :D

I think it looks like crap. You should remove it and sell it to me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was wanting to buy that bumper but you snagged it first. I email TJM and asked about bumpers and other products. They don't have a lot of demand for X's YET. So we must shower them with requests for our X's.For those of you interested here is what they said.

G'day Derrick, thanks for your interest and inquiry. At this point in time
we only have T17 aluminum bumper channel. We have a lot of interest in other
vehicles but not that much in Explorers, however we are compiling a database
regarding interest in the Explorer Bumpers. If you would like you pass on
this info to your Explorer site and as interest develops (through inquiries)
we will order bars. Thanks again TJMUSA. respond to cmiknoxusa@aol.com

I really like that bumper, nothin fancy or wimpy. I looks well made and very simplistic, with all the features! Lets start sending them some emails and get thier attension.

Looking good Steve!

When are you planning on getting into a rear tire carrier/bumper? I'm looking into getting one for my truck, more than likely have to build it myself because I don't have to pay some of the prices that are out there! Let me know your plans, maybe we could collaborate on something.

Positive Vibes: May want to consider starting a new thread on that info from TJM. It may get overlooked in here and it's important info for everyone to know about. Also include a web address to see the bumpers and contact info to get the word to them! Just a thought.

Again Steve, looks great!

Yea I think I was just a few minutes ahead of you...

:bounce:

Tim,

I dont know what Im going to do for the rear yet. I will probably fab(or have fabbed ) something for the rear along the lines of the TJM front. Im thinking of cutting the rear qtr panels even with the rear sheet metal and wrapping the bumper around. I need to find someplace that can bend heavy gauge steel for me though , I used to know a bunch of people but Ive lost track of most, and havent really made an effort yet. I have sources for the hardware -pivots latches etc, and the tire frame isnt too complicated. There is a guy in OCC thats been building bumpers on the side for some folks and hes not charging an arm and a leg, but they have been simple tube across the rear of a Jeep affairs, hes on my list of people to talk to though.
Maybe after the holidays Ill get to it, but I have to get my gears done first- maybe by the trip on the 19th, then I can work on a rear bumper.

Good news is that I only had to spend $3000 on furniture for my wife to "afford" the bumper:D

Steve -

That looks good. Check out the additional clearance in the two pictures. I'm glad I sold it to a fellow member that will put it to good use.

Are those scratches at the corner??? There was not a single scratch like that anywhere on the bumper, I don't know what they did? They must have pulled/dragged it across the floor. I carried the bumper from my truck to the mail center and put it on the counter and carried it to the ship floor and it was wrapped in 4 layers of plastic!!! I carried it like it was my baby and look what they did to it!!!

Keep in mind the bumper only has room for a low profile winch. I don't know which WARN model is considered low profile but any Ramsey REP model winch will work. I had the REP 9000 on it.

Don't waste your time and effort fabbing a rear carrier, check out the carrier from Kennesaw Mountain. Check out my thread under the Group Purchases for pricing and other information.

looks nice! ive been contemplating getting the t-15 but dunno. wonder would a t-17 one fit a 00? the t-15 95 to 98 model will but you have to cut and drill to fit a winch. stock 00 bumper hangs really low and ive scraped mine a bit. lower manik brush guard is sorta tweaked and bent now ;)

Rear Bumper and tire carrier

Hey NoBoundaries and SteveVB,

Let me know when your ready to do a rear bumper and tire carrier. I have a local guy in Rockville who may do it and enjoys special projects like this. He does alot of steel fabrication work and may even give us a discount if we get a few of the same or similar things

Well, see that's where I screwed up. I bought the furniture FIRST, and since we're still payin' on it, now I can't afford anything for the trucks! I'll need some lessons from you, Steve...

The bumper looks great! I'm looking forward to seeing it up close in January. I've seen a couple on Cherokees in 4-wheelin' mags and have been thinking about how to do something like that. I know a guy with a welder, just need to do some planning and see what he can do. He's a gear head and a four wheeler, so it'd be something he's familiar with...

brianb9 - Let me know when you get some more info on the rear bumper/tire carrier - I may be interested as well.
